The term “sheltered content” has been used to represent many forms of bi/multilingual education and inclusive settings, resulting in a “word salad” that often leaves teachers confused about the instruction that needs to be designed. In this session, we will discuss the intended meaning of sheltered instruction for multilingual learners, construct language objectives, and investigate best practices that should be embedded in productive K-12 ESOL instruction.
