The Bilingual Education SIG is back!!! Announcing our virtual spring book study: Translanguaging and Transformative Teaching for Emergent Bilingual Students: Lessons from the CUNY-NYSIEB Project.
We are continuing our study of translanguaging this spring, exploring the CUNY-NYSIEB translanguaging website and resources and reading and discussing chapters from their text regarding their groundbreaking study. Translanguaging and Transformative Teaching provides a pathway for combatting racism, monolingualism, classism and colonialism in the classroom and offers narratives, strategies and pedagogical practices to liberate and engage emergent bilingual students. This book study is appropriate for both ESOL and DLI teachers and administrators. Participants will meet once a month from January through April.
